The name indicates that the leaves are similar to those of Abelia.
The genus includes only one species from Korea, the Abeliophyllum dístichum (about 65-95 cm), a deciduous shrub that blooms from January-February until April with white flowers, with an orange center, delicately scented.
Cultivation:
normal ground but for meatable, sunny position. Since the flowering is produced on the buds of the previous year, any type of pruning should be done at the end of the flowering, as for the Forsythia to which it is related. Multiplication occurs by cutting in late summer or autumn.
